OVERVIEW

West Valley Arts Council invites artists to submit 2D artwork or photography 10"x10" or smaller for a Small Works mini exhibit at the Arts HQ Gallery in Surprise, AZ.  The exhibit will encourage affordable, impulse holiday sales of art from local artists, and fill the front wall of the gallery welcoming visitors.


 

ELIGIBILITY

This opportunity is open to professional and emerging artists 18 and older living in Arizona.


 

CRITERIA:

  • Each entry must be the artist’s original work. No giclee or other types of prints will be accepted (exception below).
  • Photos or graphic art prints must be finished, either framed or printed on canvas, acrylic, PVC, wood, or metal.
  • 10"x10" size limit includes optional frame.
  • Visual themes and media are open, however please consider the nature of viewership as the Arts HQ Gallery does cater to families and children.
  • All 2D artwork must be properly framed and/or wired, not to exceed 20 lbs.  Saw tooth is okay.
  • Pour Art by itself will not be accepted.
  • Selected work must include a label or identification on the back of the work, including the name of the artist and title, medium and price.

*WVAC board and staff reserves the right to refuse any work based on its inability to meet the criteria, inability to be displayed safely and without difficulty, or inappropriateness in themes or content.


 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. The submission fee is $10 for up to 3 entries per submission.  Payable via the submission entry form, https://westvalleyartscouncil.givingfuel.com/wvac-general-donation-page , over-the-phone, or in person at the Arts HQ Gallery Wed-Sat, 10am-4pm (623) 584-2626 by Nov. 1, 2024.
  2. Entries must include an image of each piece (images must be at least 300 dpi and .jpg or .png format.), along with the title, size, medium, and price for each.
  3. Artwork must be priced for retail not to exceed $125 (including our 25% commission on any sales) to encourage affordable, impulse sales.
  4. All entries must be completed and received by midnight on the deadline date. Late submissions will not be considered.
  5. Artist membership is not required to submit.


 

SELECTION

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of WVAC staff members and key partners.

Submissions do not guarantee acceptance.  Submission fees are non-refundable.


 

EXHIBIT INFORMATION

The Small Works mini exhibit will be installed Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, and will be open to the public as of Wednesday, November 13, 2024.  There will not be a reception.  The exhibit will run through December 19, 2024.  Artists are responsible for delivery and pick up of their artwork to the Arts HQ Gallery.  Pick up will be following the exhibit on December 20, 10am-1pm.  Sold artwork will immediately be available to the buyer.

Promotion for the exhibit will be featured on the West Valley Arts Council website and social media via Facebook and Instagram. Artists are also encouraged to promote the sale in tandem on their own social media platforms.
