Night to Remember/WW2 Event Art Call

OVERVIEW

The West Valley Arts Council is seeking original artwork for an upcoming A Night To Remember World War 2-themed fundraiser at the Flite Historic Hangar in Goodyear, AZ.  Chosen artwork will be on display and for sale throughout this exclusive ticketed evening event on Saturday, NOVEMBER 14, 2026.  Artwork should represent the WW2 era from 1939-1945, using iconic themes of automobiles, airplanes, Rosie the Riveter, tasteful pin-up girls, wartime culture, and other social themes from that historic period.  The art call is open to various 2D and 3D art media.  Exhibited artwork will be displayed on easels or pedestals.  Artwork must be suitable for a family audience. 

The A Night to Remember event will be held at the large Flite Hangar located at 1300 S Litchfield Rd Suite 210F, Goodyear, AZ 85338.  Featured artists will receive a ticket ($200 value) to the event, and chosen artwork may or may not be used for promotional materials for the event, and the artist will be credited.

Submission deadline: Friday, JUNE 12 by 12midnight to have time for publicity artwork to be used. 

 

ELIGIBILITY

This opportunity is open to professional and emerging artists 18 and older living in Arizona.

 

CRITERIA:

  • Each entry must be the artist’s original work.  AI-generated artwork will not be accepted.  
  • The theme is WW2 era, and must be family-friendly.
  • All 2D artwork must be properly framed and/or wired, not to exceed 20 lbs.  3D artwork will be placed on pedestals or can be free-standing.
  • Artwork must stay in place throughout the evening.
  • Selected 2D work must include a label or identification on the back of the work, including the name of the artist and title, and contact information.  

*WVA board and staff reserves the right to refuse any work based on its inability to meet the criteria, inability to be displayed safely and without difficulty, or inappropriateness in themes or content.

 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Up to 3 entries per submission.
  2. Entries must include an image of each piece (images must be at least 300 dpi and .jpg or .png format.), along with the title, size, medium, and price for each.  Pricing should include our 25% commission (split between the West Valley Arts Council and the P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center.)
  3. Biography of the artist
  4. Description / story behind the work
  5. Website and Instagram handles if applicable.
  6. All entries must be completed and received by midnight on the deadline date, and go through this website link.
  7. $15 nonrefundable entry fee for up to 3 art pieces (one entry per artist) to cover labor and expenses does not guarantee acceptance in the exhibit. 

 

SELECTION

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of knowledgeable West Valley Arts Council staff members and key partners.  Space is limited.

Artists are responsible for delivery and pick up of their artwork at the Flite Hangar on Friday, NOVEMBER 13, and picked up at the Flite Hangar following the event on Saturday, NOVEMBER 14.

Promotion for the exhibit will be featured on the West Valley Arts Council website, newsletters, and social media via Facebook and Instagram and other partners. Artists are also encouraged to promote the event in tandem on their own social media platforms and any local media contacts.
